“Millennials” are the generation born after 1980 and “the first generation to come of age in the new millennium,” according to the Pew Research Center.
Steeped in digital technology and social media, they treat their multitasking handheld gadgets almost like a body part — for better and worse,” the report says. Millennials, Pew said, “are more likely than older Americans to treat their cell phones as a necessary and important appendage. Many even bring their cell phones to bed,” with 83 percent of them saying they have placed their cell phone or or right next to their bed while they sleep.
