Get iPhone availability updates every 15 minutes July 30, 2008
Can’t find an iPhone 3G? Well, TopMuffin has created a site that checks Apple’s store inventory every 15 minutes. According to the site, Apple updates the inventory throughout the day. TopMuffin’s site parses the feed (feed link) and shows iPhone 3G availability by Apple Store.
TopMuffin doesn’t just post availability info, they also do some statistics to find the percent available. When we checked the page, Apple had 45% availability for 8GB black iPhones, 53% availability for 16GB black iPhones, and 41% availability for 16GB white iPhones.

The world of mobile internet devices is set to explode in the next four years says chip maker Intel.
Research carried out for the company suggests portable net-enabled devices will grow to 1.2 billion by 2012 as the need to be connected increases.
Intel’s predictions were unveiled as it launched a series of chips designed for portable web-browsing gadgets.
“The demand is there and the need is there and our technology can meet those needs,” said Intel’s Gadi Singer.

Alongside an explosion in mobile web-using devices, Intel estimated that 100 million households will also be watching IPTV by 2011.

New York artist Peter Coffin teamed with London interactive architect Dominic Harris to launch a “UFO” of their own design earlier this month. The airborne mystery pod produced shock and awe among citizens of a small town last week when it hovered, lights aglow, in Gdansk, Poland.

Robot developer tmsuk has unveiled a remote-control robot that promises a new way to shop from the comfort of home. A prototype of the telerobotic shopper — a modified TMSUK-4 humanoid robot that incorporates a variety of cellphone communications technology — was demonstrated on July 10 at the Izutsuya department store in the city of Kitakyushu, Japan.

When Minneapolis and New York-based interactive agency Space150 decided to establish a mobile division, practice head John Grudnowski found the recruiting process more difficult than he’d expected.Mobile was already a part of Space150’s offerings, but the agency wanted to augment its in-house capabilities with a new hire or two. Specifically, it hoped to hire at least one person with client-side experience.

Most of us would dial triple 0 for help in a life and death situation. Now our mobiles can also issue life-saving CPR instructions thanks to a new animated download launched by the Red Cross on Sunday.
The technology, jointly developed Tasmanian company Multi-Ed Medical and mobile networking giant Ericsson, is an animated program with an audio voiceover that gives a detailed overview of steps required for CPR.
Available through any Australian mobile phone service, the animation will can be viewed on any handset capable of displaying 176 x 144 pixel video content in the 3GPP file format.
