U.s. Cell Phone Users Open to Texting Their Vote for President April 30, 2008

A survey by Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) suggests that many teens and their parents across the U.S. would rather vote by text message on their cell phones in the next election rather than go to the polls.

According to the short survey, more than half of all Democrats, Republicans and Independents surveyed say that if allowed, they’d text in their Presidential vote.- More than six in ten (61%a) of respondents of legal voting age, age 18 and older, would be open to voting by text.

Siberia police experiment with traffic violation phone fines April 28, 2008

Mobile web ‘commonplace’ within a year April 23, 2008

RESEARCH tracking Australians’ propensity to use their mobile phones to access the internet indicates use of the mobile internet will be commonplace within a year.

The research, which is conducted annually by the University of Adelaide and mobile phone company m.Net as part of an international study, has found the proportion of people who have accessed a website on their phone has doubled to 40 per cent in the past 12 months.

Sixty per cent of people nominated improved mobile services and the reducing cost of accessing mobile internet content as a reason to change carriers, according to m.Net director of research …

Cellular News reports that an Iranian chess player competing in the Dubai Open Chess tournament has been wxpelled after he was found receiving text messages on his mobile phone - with tips for his next move.”M. Air France launches in-flight calling trial April 13, 2008

Not even half a year after Air France enabled passengers on its single OnAir-equipped Airbus A318 to send / receive messages and e-mail, the airline has went live with the second phase of the in-flight experiment. As of this week, guests who find themselves aboard the aforesaid aircraft can make / receive calls on their mobile at 30,000 feet. Mobile Scores as a Response Tool in DMA Study April 7, 2008

Mobile messaging has emerged as one of the strongest performers in prompting consumers to seek further information, in consumer research from the DMA (Direct Marketing Association), sponsored by information services company, Experian. Telephone calls, interactive TV (iTV) and mobile messaging were the three forms of marketing communication most likely to result in respondents seeking further information. iTV, while relatively under-used, was identified as the most powerful medium in driving a direct purchase,  followed by field marketing and email marketing.
